We were surprised and delighted by an unexpected visit from Ian McAleese during our Day Centre meeting on Monday 11 February 2019. Ian is a cousin of the late Stephen McAleese who will be remembered by many of the members and supporters of Headway North Cumbria.
Ian visited Headway House in order to deliver a donation of £280 collected from guests attending the 21st Wedding Anniversary Vows Renewal between Ian and his wife Lesley. Ian and Lesley had very kindly requested that, rather than providing gifts, attendees made donations to Headway North Cumbria and Blood Bikes Cumbria (a charity established by local volunteers as a medical courier service to deliver essential blood and urgent medical supplies out of hours for the North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust between premises in North and West Cumbria and hospitals/laboratories in the Newcastle area).
Ian and Lesley’s renewal of vows were conducted with a “Peaky Blinders” theme as shown in the photo above. The happy couple then jetted off to the Dominican Republic where they had the opportunity to swim with stingrays and sharks.
Headway North Cumbria would like to thank Ian and Lesley, their family and friends for the very generous donation. We would also like to congratulate Ian and Lesley on their twenty-one years of marriage and wish them both all the very best for the future.
