Presentation by Cumbria Community Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team (CCABIRT)

On Monday 29 April 2019 we were delighted to welcome Naveen K Prabhakaran, Occupational Therapist, Dr Paul Russell, a Clinical Neuro-psychologist and Lindsay King, a Speech Therapist, from the Cumbria Community Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team (CCABIRT) to the Day Centre.  The team provided an informative presentation on neuro-rehabilitation which focused on the following themes:

  • Good outcomes in rehabilitation
  • Factors that help the rehabilitation process
  • The anatomy of the brain
  • How different parts of the brain are responsible for different functions
  • The challenges of rehabilitation
  • The biopsychsocial model of health

The audience of 40+ members, volunteers and support workers engaged fully with the subject.  Lots of questions were asked and many shared their own experiences of the rehabilitation process in what was a lively and dynamic session.

The slides used for the presentation can be found here:

We would like to thank the CCABIRT team for making time in a busy schedule to come and talk to our members and hope that the success of this event can be repeated again in the future.
