On Monday 12 August 2019, 47 members of Headway North Cumbria enjoyed a delicious three course lunch at the Casa Romana Italian Kitchen in Carlisle. The Casa Romana had kindly offered the branch sole use of the restaurant and it was great that we managed to achieve attendance that was very close to the maximum capacity of 50.
The meal started with a selection of starters, served tapas-style at the table. This was a great way to start the meal with members sharing items and chatting away over a good choice of items.
Attendees then had the choice of pasta, rice and pizza main courses from an extensive range of options. Whilst the dishes had been pre-ordered, the staff at the Casa Romana should be congratulated for accommodating the wishes of members – every item on the menu was ordered by at least one member and there were multiple variations on the extras on offer! Everything arrived at the same time and came exactly as ordered – well done!
Desserts were selected from the following choices:
A great time was had by all. The welcoming environment encouraged attendees to engage socially as a group, getting to know each other better. There was a lot of banter and laughter and everyone was able to return home having had a good time and a fantastic meal.
We would very much like to thank the team at the Casa Romana Italian Kitchen for providing an excellent lunch in such a friendly and inviting environment. The chefs did an excellent job of producing a broad selection of delicious items and, front of house, Andrew, Bethany, Jenna and Sue looked after us so well.
The cost of the event was largely covered by a generous donation from Insight Rehabilitation who raised money for us through a sponsored parachute jump last year. A big thank you to them.
