Following a survey of our membership it has been decided to make a group booking for an activity weekend at the Lake District Calvert Trust on Friday 21 – Sunday 23 June 2019.
The Lake District Calvert Trust is a residential outdoor centre, specialising in activity courses for people with disabilities, their friends, family members and/or colleagues. The Calvert Trust’s 60-bed centre is based just 4 miles out of Keswick in the heart of the Lake District, close to the shores of the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake. Bedrooms, mostly configured for 2 or 3 occupants, have accessible en-suite wet-rooms with shower chairs and the Centre can provide portable hoists and profiling, raisable beds if required. The Centre also has an on-site hydrotherapy pool, a sensory room and a games room which are free to use during the evenings.
Activity courses are run in groups of up to 12 people, and typically include activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, horse riding, high ropes course/zip wire, ghyll scrambling and bushcraft. Depending on the level of ability, members, carers and family can usually take part in all the activities on offer.

The cost of the weekend will be offset by bursary funding through the Calvert Trust and will be further subsidised by Headway North Cumbria. Cost to those with individual/family membership, and carers will be £90 per person payable in advance.
A booking for 24 attendees has been made and the group will be accommodated exclusively in en-suite rooms in the Farmhouse. Members wishing to participate will need to inform Natalie Simpson and secure their place with payment in full.
