SUMMARY:ABI Week 2021: A Life of Lockdown?
DESCRIPTION:Covid-19 has been tough on everyone. Repeated lockdowns have left people isolated and lonely\, often harming their mental wellbeing. \nBut imagine living every day of your life in isolation… \nThe effects of brain injury\, such as problems with memory\, information processing\, or speech\, compounded by a lack of understanding of this often hidden disability\, can leave survivors lacking the confidence to interact with society. \nThe theme of this year’s Action for Brain Injury Week is A life of lockdown?  and will focus on social isolation after brain injury\, a problem that has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.   The campaign will aim to give a voice to survivors and carers to help them better explain to their friends and families the challenges they face as a result of brain injury.  As well as having an awareness-raising focus\, it will also have positive messages and tools to help people make a difference\, such as guides and top tips for friends of brain injury survivors and carers. \nAction for Brain Injury Week will run from 17-23 May 2021. \nFurther details will be released on the Headway UK website and social media in due course. \nHeadway North Cumbria will discuss A life of lockdown? during its Zoom meeting on Monday 24 May 2021.
